Urban Animals by Jason Carter

Jason Carter, "The Rabbit", "The Rabbit Hole", "The Man Hole", acrylic on canvas, 2012
Jason Carter, one of Alberta’s most prolific aboriginal artists, delightfully explores this constant dialogue of urban versus the natural environment through a vibrant series of paintings. Six animals, indigenous to Alberta, are shown in three different environments, showing their resilience and ability to adapt to an ever-evolving world.
Urban Animals was curated by Bridget Ryan and Janet Sinclair-Gibson, as part of the Alberta Foundation for the Art's Traveling Exhibition Program (organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta and sponsored by Syncrude Canada).
