Jason Carter, "The Man Hole", acrylic on canvas |
Jason Carter, one of
Alberta’s most prolific aboriginal artists, delightfully explores this constant
dialogue of urban versus the natural environment through a vibrant series of
paintings. Six animals, indigenous to Alberta, are shown in three different
environments, showing their resilience and ability to adapt to an ever-evolving
world.
Urban Animals was curated by Bridget Ryan and Janet Sinclair-Gibson, as part of the Alberta Foundation for the Art's Traveling Exhibition Program
(organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta and sponsored by
Syncrude Canada).
