Storytellers

Harry Savage, Postcard from a Green Trailer, 1972, silkscreen on paper,
Collection of Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
The exhibition Storytellers examines the telling of stories in visual art. With art works drawn from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, this exhibition explores the actual narratives related by artists and the various ways they have been portrayed.

Harry Savage was born in Camrose, Alberta in 1938. Beginning in 1964, he taught at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Extension and in 1973, he and fellow artist Sylvain Voyer formed a loose partnership to establish Latitude 53, an artist run gallery in Edmonton. Savage currently lives in British Columbia.

The exhibition Storytellers was curated by Shane Golby and organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition Program. The AFA Travelling Exhibition program is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Storytellers runs from July 25th until August 28th, 2013 at the Visual Arts Alberta Gallery. A reception is planned for Thursday, August 1 from 7-9:30 pm. Gallery hours are Wed-Fri 10-4pm and Sat 12-4pm. The Gallery will be closed on August 3.
