Storytellers

Cliff Robinson, Leda, n.d., linocut on paper, Collection of Alberta Foundation for the Arts

The exhibition Storytellers examines the telling of stories in visual art. With art works drawn from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, this exhibition explores the actual narratives related by artists and the various ways they have been portrayed.

Cliff Robinson (1916-1992) was a member of the Society of Canadian Painters and Etchers, the Society of Graphic Arts, and the Federation of Canadian Artists, as well as being one of the earliest members of the Alberta Society of Artists.

The exhibition Storytellers was curated by Shane Golby and organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition Program. The AFA Travelling Exhibition program is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

Storytellers runs from July 25th until August 28th, 2013 at the Visual Arts Alberta Gallery. A reception is planned for Thursday, August 1 from 7-9:30 pm. Gallery hours are Wed-Fri 10-4pm and Sat 12-4pm. The Gallery will be closed on August 3.
