TENGINGAR: Connections and Contrasts in Iceland by Deborah Catton

TENGINGAR is Icelandic for connections. The exhibition captures the personal experiences of artist Deborah Catton during a 30 day residency period in May, 2014 in Iceland. The work explores connections between the landscape, the geography and the climate and the many connections and contrasts that exist with the colour, shape and form of this amazing place.

"TENGINGAR" is up in Gallery B of the Visual Arts Alberta Gallery. Showing in Gallery A is "Songs of the Soul", Father Douglas' collection of paintings based on the poetic works of William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. Father Douglas and Deborah Catton Opens February 5th!



Join us for the opening of two fantastic exhibitions! 

In "Songs of the Soul", Father Douglas, osf, presents new paintings that explore the words of William Blake's poetical works, Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience. In addition to the artwork, Father Douglas has produced a beautiful book that documents some of the work on the walls, as well as many others. 

Calgary artist Deborah Catton, brings her perspective on a recent travel experience to Iceland in the show, "Tengingar: Connections and Contrasts in Iceland". Expressed in photography and in paintings, Catton demonstrates a curiousity about this unique landscape and her experiences within it. 

Both shows open to the public on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from 7:00 - 9:30 pm and run in the Visual Arts Alberta Gallery until March 28. The Gallery is open from Wed - Fri, 10-4 pm and Sat, 12-4 pm.
